Our office is responsible for the prosecution of all crimes committed in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties. We are seeking Assistant State Attorneys that have good judgment and a passion to keep our community safe. We hire Florida Bar members in good standing who have demonstrated an interest in litigation and/or criminal law through course work and internships. We also recruit attorneys with prosecutorial experience for lateral hires. Our prosecutors manage a large caseload, are in court frequently, and prosecute numerous trials. Training and mentoring are provided by senior attorneys. This is truly a unique opportunity to learn to become a first class trial attorney. Entry level annual salary for attorneys is $62,500.00, which coupled with our generous benefits package is comparable to $105,971.00 annually. Applicants must have a strong interest in courtroom litigation, with excellent communication and critical thinking skills. Attorney responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
preparation of criminal cases for prosecution requiring legal research, depositions, and interviewing witnesses/victims and other parties to ascertain facts. Trial work includes preparation and summation of detailed case work for presentation of cases in jury and non-jury trials, and the examining and cross-examining of witnesses, defendants, and victims. Employment will require professional interaction with the public, law enforcement staff and office staff. Applicant must be able to work independently and as a team member. Applicants considered for employment will be required to pass a background check including fingerprinting, and are required to have proof of identity, and proof of US citizenship OR legal right to work in the United States. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
